Earlier this month we witnessed the birth of Huawei first smart TV during its annual HDC event. Xiaomi has follow suit by announcing Redmi TV, the company's first smart TV under the Redmi brand. The TV was unveiled alongside with the new Redmi Note 8 series at an event hosted by the firm in China on Thursday.

The Redmi TV boasts of a 70-inch display with 4K resolution (3840×2160 pixels) and 178-degree wide viewing angle. Moreover, the TV supports HDR10 contents viewing. The screen is fitted inside thin minimal bezels of which measurements were not revealed.

The device relied on a quad-core Amologic Cortex A53 chipset in powering the whole system, while graphics is delivered by a Mali-450 MP3 GPU. 2GB RAM and 16GB storage are onboard as well. PatchWall AI offers smart intelligence, including voice control, by using the bundled Bluetooth remote control. Users can also use their smartphones as remote control when paired with the TV.

Furthermore, users will be able to casts or mirror multimedia contents on their smartphone to the TV. Pairing a phone with the TV is as easy as scanning a QR code on the TV using the phone camera. For immersive listening, the Redmi TV audio is tuned by Dolby Audio and DTS. Apart from Bluetooth 4.2 and WiFi, other connectivity present are 2x USB ports, 3x HDMI ports, and SPDIF.

It will be available in China from September 10th at a price of CN¥3799 (US$531). No details on its global roll out yet.
