Samsung Galaxy A8s

The Galaxy A8s has officially been announced by Samsung, as expected today. The device brings with it an Infinity-O display, which is another clever way (apart from the trending slider design) of eradicating the notch that plague today's smartphones. The display has a hole that is 6.7mm wide at the upper left corner that accommodates the 24MP f/2.0 front camera made for taking selfie.

The phone bezels are quite minimal at the sides but the bottom bezel is noticeable. The display is 6.4-inch in size, touting a Full HD+ (1080x2340) resolution and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Powering the device on the inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core chipset clocked at 2.2GHz, combined with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The storage is expandable up to 512GB via a MicroSD card. Samsung is also offering an 8GB RAM model with the same storage.

At the back of the Galaxy A8s resides triple camera; the main which is the first has a 24MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture, the second a 10MP telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture, while the third boasts of a 5MP depth-sensing sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. The camera configuration of the phone differs when compared with Galaxy A7 (2018) that got released few months ago.

A fingerprint sensor is located at the back for  smart security, while the 3.5mm audio jack and the USB Type-C port take their position at the bottom. Speaking of connectivity, the Galaxy A8s supports Bluetooth 5, WiFi 802.11ac dual band, GPS, GLONASS, and NFC (optional). Android 8.1 Oreo takes charge of the software, while the whole system relied on a 3400mAh battery for power. Moreover, adaptive fast charging is not left behind to quickly juice up the battery.

The Galaxy A8s is themed in Blue, Gray, and Green colors with gradient finnish. Pre-order begins today in China and ends on December 21st after which it will go on sale. No details on pricing.
