Acer Chromebook Tab 10

Chrome OS has been a success in some parts and a failure in some parts, but Google is not relenting its efforts, atleast not yet. Earlier this year at the annual Consumer Electronic Show, Acer and HP introduced new Chromebook laptops but since then we've heard nothing. Today, Google is breaking the silence with the launch of its first Chromebook tablet, in partnership with Acer.

The Acer Chromebook Tab 10 is aimed at educational sector just like most Chromebook laptops out there, but this does not have a keyboard or a trackpad nor is it convertible—it is just a tablet. It has a 9.7-inch IPS multitouch screen that boasts of a QXGA (2048x1536) resolution, which users can directly write on, sketch or draw on using the accompanied Wacom EMR stylus with multi-level of pressure sensitivity. Students and teachers will particularly find this useful in their daily chore. The stylus has its own compartment for secure storage and does not requires charging.

The tablet is powered by a Rockchip-made OP1 quad-core processor with unknown clock speed, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage. There is a MicroSD slot onboard to further expand the limited storage. Moving on, the Chromebook Tab 10 is equipped with a rear-facing 5-megapixel camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for photography. Although it lacks a SIM card slot, users will be able to browse the net and do online stuffs using the embedded WiFi 802.11ac chip. It also supports Bluetooth 4.1 and USB Type-C.

The Chrome OS on the Chromebook Tab 10 comes pre-installed with Play Store, giving users one way tickets to download apps and games from Google's largest marketplace. Audio is hushed out through dual speakers and the tablet can takes 9 hours of beating non-stop with its 34Wh battery.

The tablet will comes to the U.S first in April with the price set at $329, and from there will roll out to Europe, Africa and Middle East countries in May with €329 ($410) price tag.
