YI Partnered Google to Launch Horizon VR180 VR Camera at CES2018

YI Technologies has partnered with Google to launch Horizon VR180 camera at the annual CES event that began on Monday. The camera can capture contents in 5.7K resolution @30fps, leveraging Google's VR180 format to offer stereoscopic 3-D photos and videos that can be view on supported VR headsets for fully immersive experience. Captured photos and recorded events can also be viewed on smartphones and desktop PCs, but only in 2D.

With one click on the shutter button, users will be able to record live video, stitch it via a built-in software and instantly live-stream it to supported social channels including YouTube in 4K resolution. Moreover, the YI Horizon VR180 is pre-installed with Google's VR180 app, which will let users saves their captured contents on Google Photos cloud storage. There is no limits to photos and videos that can be stored on Google Photos, according to Google.

The camera has a rear-placed 2.2-inch retina display with 640x360 resolution that let users view captured contents live before and after capture. The display can be rotated upward up to 180-degree for self capture. The YI Horizon VR180 can be paired with external devices via built-in Wi-Fi wireless connectivity and it also has USB Type-C port for fast transmission of data for wired connection.

The device will be available in spring 2018. No details on its pricing yet.
