Samsung Z4 with Tizen OS 3.0, 2.5D Curved Display, 4G VoLTE Announced

Samsung is not ready to give up on Tizen, atleast not yet. The company has just announced a new smartphone that will once again host its homegrown operating system called Z4. This is not a flagship as one could expect, but rather an entry-level for low-end users who might want to have a taste of what Tizen looks like.

While the Z4 suppose to be more advance in specs than its predecessor the Z3, Samsung has decided to go back in time when a 4.5-inch WVGA (850x480) display was once looked upon like a gold, though this has 2.5D curved glass on top. There is only one thing that advance, and that is the operating system it runs. The Z4 boasts an upgraded Tizen 3.0 OS that brings new features onboard.

First, lets look at the specs. Besides the aforementioned display and resolution, the smartphone is powered by an unspecified quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, clubbed with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of built-in storage, which thankfully can be expanded via MicroSD card.

The new Samsung smartphone houses dual 5-megapixel cameras, one equipped at the front and the other at the back, both flaunting f/2.2 aperture. The front camera is accompanied with a selfie flash while the rear camera claimed two separate LED flash, each placed on either side of the camera. Users can switch between both cameras to capture multiple views in one single video.

Connectivity options included are Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi + VoWiFi, 4G VoLTE Cat.4, 3G, GPS/A-GPS + GLONASS, and Micro-USB. It is backed by a 2,050mAh battery. With Tizen 3.0, the Samsung Z4 brings lots of additional features such as Power Planner, Battery Notifications, Quick Torch, Quick Talk, and Quick Launch.

No details on its pricing and availability yet but considering previous Z series launches, it is likely the phone will come to India first. Dual SIM variant will also be available for selected markets.
