L9 Plus: Tecno First Smartphone with Android 7.0 Nougat Launched


Tecno Mobile, one of the widely-accepted brands in Africa has launched a new smartphone under its "L" line-up in Nigeria called L9 Plus. The L series are known for their extraordinary battery life and the new offering by Tecno promise likewise considering a huge 5,000mAh battery it packs behind with fast charging to keep the bar full in no time. The phone is also the company's first to runs Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box with HiOS layed on top.

Wrapped in a sleek metal body, the phablet-size device features a 6-inch IPS capacitive touch display with HD resolution of 1280x720 pixel, flaunting a pixel density of 245ppi. It is powered by a 64-bit quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor clocked at 1.3GHz, slammed with 2GB of RAM and Mali-T720 GPU. The phone houses a 16GB of internal storage and there is a MicroSD slot onboard for expanding the storage up to 128GB.

For smart security and biometric authentication, the L9 Plus comes equipped with a fingerprint sensor at the rear. Sitting above the fingerprint sensor is a 13-megapixel autofocus camera accompanied with a LED flash, while at the front besides the earpiece is a secondary 5-megapixel front-facing camera with a LED flash placed besides it as well for great selfie capture in low-light.

Disappointingly, the L9 Plus which happened to be Tecno first smartphone to be launched in 2017 misses on 4G LTE, which is quite a shame considering its overall specs and its huge powerpack that can keep it running for days. But then there is 3G HSPA+ onboard which should be enough. Other connectivity options included are Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi with Hotspot, GPRS/EDGE, GPS, USB OTG and FM radio.

The Tecno L9 Plus will go on sale later this month at popular online stores in Nigeria such as Jumia and Konga, and at offline stores across the country. It will also be available in Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, Tanzania and other selected markets. No word on pricing yet.
