LG Watch Sport, Watch Style with Android Wear 2.0 Goes Official: Specs

LG Watch Sport

Google today has announced two new smartwatches made by LG namely, Watch Sport and Watch Style. The new wrist-borns are the first smartwatches to runs Android Wear 2.0 OS out-of-the-box with Google Assistant readily on deck.

The LG Watch Sport is more for work than for style and is the most powerful between the two. As the "Sport" in its name suggest, it is built to caters for outdoor recreational activities needs. It is pre-loaded with various sensors including Gyro, Accelerometer, Ambient Light, Barometer, and Compass, and it also comes baked in with GPS and Heart Rate Sensor. The smartwatch features a circular 1.38-inch P-OLED display with 480x480 pixel resolution, rounding up the pixel density to 348ppi. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor with 1.1GHz clock speed, coupled with 768MB of RAM and 4GB of built-in storage (eMMC).

LG Watch Style

The LG Watch Style on the other hand is more of the gentlemen type considering its classic look. It sports a single dial button on the right that offers quick navigation when tune. Unlike Watch Sport, it lacks GPS, Barometer and Heart Rate Sensor but other sensors (Gyro/Accelerometer/Compass/Ambient Light) are included. The Watch Style features a smaller 1.2-inch circular P-OLED display with 360x360 pixel resolution and pixel density of 299ppi. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor clocked at 1.1GHz, paired with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of built-in storage (eMMC).

Both smartwatches are dustproof and waterproof certified, the first claiming IP68 rating and the later IP67. The LG Watch Sport supports LTE, NFC, and 3G, which Watch Style flatly lacks. Both can be paired with smartphones running Android 4.3+ and iOS via Bluetooth 4.1 and WiFi connectivity. The first measures 45.4 x 51.21 x 14.2mm; weighs 89 grams, and packs a 430mAh battery, while the later measures 42.3 x 45.7 x 10.79mm and is backed by a 240mAh battery.

The LG Watch Sport will be available in U.S on Google Store, AT&T, and Verizon in Titanium and Dark Blue colours from Friday February 10 at a price US$349, while the Watch Style will be available in Rose Gold, Silver, and Titanium colours on Best Buy and Google Store at a price of US$249.
