Tecno Camon C9 Launch Event

At a special event held in Lagos Nigeria on Wednesday, Tecno Mobile officially launched its new photocentric smartphone, Camon C9. The Camon series are primarily aimed at giving the best when it comes to photography without lacking the intelligence to process great photo shoot at the final stage after capture. We have seen how brilliant its predecessor Camon C8 was, but the Camon C9 even promise something much more better.

It comes equipped with dual 13-megapixel camera, one placed at the front and the other at the rear, both flaunting f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. The rear camera lens is covered with scratch-resistant glass to prevent blur that are likely to occur due to scratches on the lens during photo capture. While this is not the first time we've seen a Tecno smartphone boasting a 13MP rear camera, it is the first time we are seeing it on the front, so selfie lovers shouldn't bother using the rear camera over front camera as both will produce nearly the same result.

With large lens and great aperture sitting at the top of the display in-between the Proximity sensor and the LED flash, Tecno have got a better use of the front camera besides taking of selfie. Integrated deep within is an Iris scanner that let users lock and unlock the phone by just glaring at the camera, eliminating the input of password or passcode to save time.

Other features of the Camon C9 are appealing as well, and lots of features has been upgraded when compared with Camon C8. It now comes with a full-HD (1920x1080) resolution packed in a 5.5-inch IPS capacitive touch screen, instead of HD (720p). The processor has been up from quad-core to octa-core, with a MediaTek chipset driving it on the inside, coupled with 2GB of RAM. It includes a 16GB of built-in storage, which is further expandable up to 128GB via a MicroSD card.

Another notable feature is the Android operating system version it runs. The Camon C9 is Tecno second smartphone to runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box after Tecno W4 that was released in April, with HiOS sitting on top. Connectivity options included are 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi with Hotspot, 3G HSPA+, 2G, GPS and Micro-USB. A 3,000mAh battery turn it on.

As usual, the phone comes in dual-SIM variant only. Tecno is also including a free smartband called T-Band with every purchase. As of now, there is no details regarding its pricing. The Tecno Camon C9 is expected to go on sale in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and other selected Africa markets within last week of June and first week of July.
