BQ Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Edition packs a full Desktop OS along with Mobile OS

Canonical has partnered with BQ, a spanish OEM to launch its first Ubuntu-powered tablet named Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Edition. Though the exact date of its roll-out is yet to be specify, the device will be available for order on the company online store at a speculated price of EUR 250 ($280 USD). It is expected to start shipping before Q3 2016.

The main highlight of BQ Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Edition is the Convergence Experience it offers, bringing in the possibility of using it as a full-fledged desktop computer. It includes an output micro-HDMI port that can be connected to an external display such as projector or monitor for full PC experience. Mouse and keyboard can be connect wirelessly via Bluetooth connection. This reminds us of Microsoft Continuum which offers nearly same feature in Windows 10 powered smartphone.

In technical aspect, the tablet features a 10.1-inch full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display with 16:10 aspect ratio. It is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT8163A processor with a clock speed of 1.5GHz, slammed with 2GB of RAM. There is a 16GB of built-in storage onboard that can be expanded up to 64GB via MicroSD card.

The Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Edition bears an 8-megapixel autofocus camera at the rear with dual-tone LED flash sitting besides it, while it packs a 5-megapixel camera at the front for taking selfie. Connectivity options included are Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi, USB with OTG, and Micro-HDMI port as already mentioned. It is fuelled by a 7,280mAh battery.
