LG on Monday has released a new flip (clamshell) Android smartphone in its homeland named Gentle. The device will be available first via network carrier LG U+ starting from this week with a price tag of KRW 200,000 ($170 USD).
This is the third flip smartphone launched by the firm since 2014, the first which was Flip Wine Smart was launched in September last year and the second named Ice Cream Smart came into existence in January earlier this year. Notably, while the previous two comes pre-loaded with Android 4.4 KitKat OS, the new LG Gentle runs latest Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box. It is also to be noted that these phones availability are mostly restricted to Korea only, though Gentle might change that.
In physical aspect, the LG Gentle measures 117.7 x 58.7 x 16.6mm and weight 143 gram. It features a 3.2-inch HVGA (320 x 480 pixels) IPS touchscreen display but also includes a traditional T9 keypad to further enhance typing speed. Diving in, the device is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor with a clock speed of 1.1GHz slammed with 1GB of RAM.
There's a 4GB of built-in storage onboard which is further expandable via MicroSD card. At the rear, the LG Gentle hosts a 5-megapixel autofocus camera accompanied with LED flash, while it bears a VGA camera at the front for video calling. Connectivity options included are Wifi, Bluetooth 4.0, 4G, 3G, 2G, GPS/A-GPS, and Micro-USB. A 1700mAh battery turn on the device.
The LG Gentle will be available in Burgundy and Navy colors when it goes on sale.
