Micromax has launched a new Android tablet in India, the Canvas Tab P690. It carries a price tag of Rs 8,999 ($141 USD) and will be available before 1st week of June ends.

The Canvas Tab P690 offers voice calling functionality via a dedicated SIM slot and runs Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box which the firm claims is upgradeable to Android 5.0 Lollipop. It features an 8-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.

Under the hood, the tablet is driven by a quad-core Intel Atom processor with a base speed of 1.33GHz that can turbo boost up to 1.83GHz slammed with 1GB of RAM. It packs an 8GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB via MicroSD card.

The Canvas Tab P690 houses a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash while there is a 2-megapixel camera at the front. Connectivity options included are Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi with Hotspot, 3G, GPRS/EDGE, GPS, and Micro-USB. It is backed by a 4000mAh battery.
