Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime Goes Official with Fingerprint Sensor, LTE

Samsung today has officially launched Galaxy J5 Prime in India, a slightly enhanced variant of Galaxy J5 2016 that was released in May. Though it comes with nearly the same specs with the later, this sports a fingerprint sensor beneath the physical home button and will readily accept up to 256GB of additional storage via MicroSD card (Galaxy J5 2016 only support up to 128GB). In addition, Samsung has lowered the battery capacity from 3100mAh to 2400mAh in J5 Prime. Besides these changes other specifications remains the same.

The Galaxy J5 Prime features a 5-inch capacitive touch display with a HD resolution of 1280x720 pixel. It is powered by an unspecified quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz, slammed with 2GB of RAM. A 16GB of storage is placed inside for hosting files, apps and data, and their are two SIM slots onboard with support of 4G LTE.

Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box with TouchWiz UI on top, the phone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with Auto Focus, f/1.9 aperture and LED flash while it bears a 5-megapixel camera at the front for video-calling and selfie. Apart from 4G LTE, other connectivity options included are Bluetooth, WiFi with Hotspot, 3G, GPRS/EDGE, GPS/A-GPS, and Micro-USB.

The Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime measures 142.8x69.5x8.1mm and weigh 143 grams. It will be available later this month at a price at Rs 14,790 ($221).

Along with the Galaxy J5 Prime, Samsung also introduced Galaxy J7 Prime which first makes its way to Vietnamese market earlier this month in India.
