Sony Xperia Android Nougat

Sony today has officially confirmed its Xperia series smartphones that will be receiving Android 7.0 Nougat update, a solid move made by the company two days after Google started rolling out the update to selected Nexus devices globally.

HTC was the first OEM to publicly announced its smartphones that are qualified to receive Android Nougat, and with Sony closely following we can expect more top mobile firms to join the queue as times goes on. As can be expected, Sony handpicked its latest Xperia smartphones. They are listed below.

  • Xperia X
  • Xperia XA
  • Xperia XA Ultra
  • Xperia XA Performance
  • Xperia Z5
  • Xperia Z5 Compact
  • Xperia Z5 Premium
  • Xperia Z3+
  • Xperia Z4 Tablet

As can be seen from the list Xperia Z2 and Z3 series are not included, however, the company may decide to include these smartphones in near future, but the probability is very thin. Sony is yet to reveal update rollout timeline but we expect another announcement to be made when Android Nougat for these selected device go online.
