Samsung 32GB-64GB-128GB-256GB UFS Memory Card

Samsung has announced world's first memory card based on Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 1.0 standard, that offers outstanding read and write speed when compares with eMMC storage that has been in existence for a long time. The UFS-based storage system has been used recently in Samsung high-end smartphones like Galaxy S6 and S7, but this is the first time of making its first appearance as an external storage.

While it looks just like MicroSD card in shape and size, the device pin layout is explicitly different, so little to no device supports it for now. But if things go well, manufacturers should begin to adopt the new pin layout in near future. The memory card is primarily targeted at photo-capturing mobile devices such as Action Cams, DSLR's, Drones e.t.c. It offers sequential read speed of up to 530Mbps and write speed of up to 170Mbps, which un-arguably beats down MicroSD read and write speed, with thrice its performance guaranteed.

The Samsung UFS card will be available in 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage capacities. No words regarding pricing and availability.
