Huawei Honor 8 front and rear

Huawei has officially launched Honor 8, its latest high-end smartphone in "Honor" series in China. Flaunting a sleek metal and glass body with a thickness of 7.45mm and 153 grams weight, the phone features a 5.2-inch IPS 2.5D curved display with a full-HD resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and pixel density of 424ppi. It is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Kirin 950 processor clocked at 2.3GHz, slammed with Mali-T880 MP4 GPU.

The Honor 8 comes in three variants, 3GB RAM with 32GB storage version, 4GB RAM with 32GB storage version, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage version, all of which are further expandable up to 128GB via MicroSD card. It runs Android 6.0.Marshmallow out-of-the-box topped with EMUI 4.1, and has hybrid dual SIM slots that enables the second SIM slot to be use as a MicroSD card slot. For smart security, a fingerprint sensor is embedded at the rear for biometric authentication.

The most notable feature of Huawei latest handheld machine are dual 12-megapixel cameras equipped at the rear, boasting Laser Auto Focus and f/2.2 aperture for great capture in low-light environment. This reminds us of Honor V8 with similar camera components and arrangement. There is an 8-megapixel camera at the front for taking selfie.

In connectivity compartment, the device supports Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi 802.11ac (dual-band), 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, GPS/A-GPS, NFC, IR sensor and USB Type-C. It is backed by a 3000mAh/2900mAh battery with fast charging.

  • Huawei Honor 8 with 3GB RAM + 32GB storage is priced at CNY 1999 ($300 USD)
  • Huawei Honor 8 with 4GB RAM + 32GB storage is priced at CNY 2299 ($345 USD)
  • Huawei Honor 8 with 4GB RAM + 64GB storage is priced at CNY 2499 ($375 USD)

It is available for pre-orders in China and will start shipping from 19th of July. It comes in five different colours, Pearl White, Sapphire Blue, Sunrise Gold, Sakura Pink, and Midnight Black.
