Tecno Boom J8 with 13MP Camera, 2GB RAM goes official in Nigeria

Tecno Boom J8

Third week of April will mark exactly a year Tecno Mobile released Boom J7, its budget smartphone for music lovers. To celebrate its one year anniversary which is already near, the company on Thursday has announced its successor, Boom J8, in a special event organized by the firm. Though nothing has been said regarding its pricing, the phone is expected to go on sale later this month.

Unlike its predecessor, the Tecno Boom J8 features a larger 5.5-inch IPS display, but sports same HD (1280x720 pixels) resolution, flaunting a pixel density of 267ppi. The processor have experience an upgrade too as it's now packing a 64-bit quad-core MediaTek MT6735 chipset clocked at 1.3GHz, which beats 32-bit MediaTek MT6582 that powered the previous series. Mali-T720 GPU takes care of graphics and there is 2GB of RAM onboard for good multitasking and 16GB of built-in storage for hosting files (expandable via MicroSD card). To reminds you, the Boom J7 has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

The device supports dual-SIM functionality and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box topped with the company's new custom UI, HiOS. The new User Interface provides clear-through navigation and offers a better user experience when compares with traditional interface known with their previous releases. Notably, Boom J8 is the first to make use of this custom UI. In addition, Tecno is not forgetting its Boom Player, which has been further optimized to provide better sound output.

Moving on to photography, the Boom J8 sports a 13-megapixel autofocus camera at the rear with LED flash, while a 5-megapixel camera is equipped at the front, also supported with a LED flash. This can be consider as an upgrade from 8MP and 2MP cameras on its predecessor. Connectivity options included are Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi with Hotspot, 3G HSPA+ (up to 21Mbps), GPRS/EDGE, GPS/A-GPS, FM radio and Micro-USB. 4G LTE should be onboard but we are yet to confirm it.

The Tecno Boom J8 is powered by a 3,000mAh built-in battery with fast charging. It will be available in multiple color options when it set sail.

Last month, Tecno Mobile launched Droipad 7C Pro, its latest voice-calling Android tablet in Nigeria. The device sports a 7-inch display, packs a quad-core chipset and has a 3,000mAh built-in battery.
