Xiaomi Outs Redmi 3 Pro in China: Fingerprint Sensor, 3GB RAM and more

Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro in colours

The Apple of China, Xiaomi, today has launched a new flagship smartphone in it homeland named Redmi 3 Pro, an upgraded version and successor of Redmi 3 that was introduced earlier this year. It wears a sleek metal alloy unibody that has a minimal body profile of 139.3 x 69.6 x 8.5mm, having an overall weightness of 144 grams. The smartphone runs MIUI 7 based on Android Lollipop out-of-the-box and has hybrid dual SIM slots. This enables the secondary SIM slot to be use as a MicroSD card slot.

The Redmi 3 Pro features a 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels, flaunting a pixel density of 294ppi. A 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor clocked at 1.5GHz powered it on the inside, paired with 3GB of RAM and Adreno 405 GPU. It includes a 32GB of built-in storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via MicroSD card. Unlike its predecessor, the Redmi 3 Pro sports a fingerprint scanner at the rear beneath the camera lens for smart security and authentication.

In photograpy, a 13-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture and Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) is equipped at the rear, accompanied with a LED flash, while it sports a 5-megapixel selfie camera at the front. The cameras can not only take high pixel pictures, but are also capable of recording video in full-HD (1080p). Connectivity options included are Bluetooth 4.1, Wifi, 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, GPRS/EDGE, GPS/A-GPS, GLONASS and Micro-USB. It is backed by a 4,000mAh/4,100mAh battery.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro is priced at CNY 899 ($138 USD). It will be available in Silver, Grey and Gold colours starting from 6th of April in the region. No word on availability outside China.
