Infinix Zero 3 X552 VS Tecno Phantom 5

Infinix and Tecno Mobile has stepped up the game to truely meet demands of the people. This year has been such an amazing one from both companies as we witness a new dimension from both side in mobile phone sector in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and other Africa countries. Stepping up the game in the sense that they pushes the technology side of mobile phone further to a higher level, not only to bring the best for people, but making Africa proud and setting a whole new recognizable standard for the world to see. We are here when Infinix partnered with Google to bring Android One program to Africa, and when Tecno Mobile collaborate with Microsoft to launch Windows 10 powered 2-in-1 convertible tablet. It was such an amazing thing, and we expect to see even greater things from both firm next year.

Infinix has just launched a new flag bearer, Zero 3 X552. It is unlike what has been released by the firm in 2015, we mean from the beginning. We do not know why Infinix favorite December above all other months, making it an exclusive month to release its first high-end smartphone, but whatever the reason is we hope Santa is not involved. With great power comes great responsibilty as Peter Parker would say, but in this segment we'll rather say with great power comes great competition. Tecno Mobile launched Phantom 5 in September, top of the line released by the company in 2015. Its uniqueness distinguishes it from the rest in Africa market, but now we have a new challenger.

Phantom 5 is here before Zero 3, but can Phantom 5 still stand its ground against this monster? Can Zero 3 X552 still make an impact? Which is the best, which one should you go for, Infinix Zero 3 or Tecno Phantom 5? These are questions we will be answering below by comparing their specifications and highlighting their differences.

Display:

Zero 3 X552 -> 5.5-inch IPS display, full-HD (1920x1080 pixels) resolution, 401ppi pixel density
Phantom 5 -> 5.5-inch IPS display, full-HD (1920x1080 pixels) resolution, 401ppi pixel density

Note: Both are identical in this aspect. Full-HD resolution packed in a 5.5-inch screen makes these perfect for multimedia and gaming. The details, clarity of word, aspect view, sharpness are no-fowl.

Processor And RAM:

Zero 3 X552 -> 64-bit 2.2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795T) processor, PowerVR G6200 GPU; 3GB RAM
Phantom 5 -> 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, Mali-T720 GPU; 3GB RAM

Note: Zero 3 is fully loaded, giving out all and taking nothing back. Helio X10 is MediaTek newest high-end chipset and currently the most powerful processor offer by the firm as at now. MT6753 used in Phantom 5 is one of the middle-class that has a good performance, and its a good battery saver too. But to be realistic, Zero 3 X552 is incomparable with Phantom 5 in this aspect, in speed, graphics e.t.c. It simply out-match it. Both has same RAM capacity, a very good one, so multitasking shouldn't be a problem.

Camera:

Zero 3 X552 -> 20.7-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, Sony IMX230 sensor, LED flash; 5-megapixel front camera
Phantom 5 -> 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash; 8-megapixel front camera, LED flash

Note: Here's another major highlight of Infinix Zero 3. It proves to be photocentric (atleast on the rear) and there is nothing to comprehend how well the camera will perform when taking a picture. The gap is just too wide to compare it with Phantom 5 rear camera, that's a whooping 7-megapixel difference. But when it comes to the front, Phantom 5 poses a threat especially for those who like taking selfie. The 5-megapixel isn't bad, but Phantom 5 8-megapixel front snapper is simply optimize for taking selfie seeing that it even posses a front LED flash. Not all bothers about selfie, but its of one the features some can't just miss. Whichever the case is, both phone can take good selfie, one is just better in doing it.

Storage:

Zero 3 X552 -> 16GB/32GB built-in storage, expandable up to 128GB via MicroSD card
Phantom 5 -> 32GB built-in storage, external storage supported

Note: Both has enough storage to host files and data with external storage support. However, Tecno doesn't specify maximum external storage capacity the Phantom 5 can accommodate.

Connectivity:

Zero 3 X552 -> Dual-SIM, Bluetooth, Wifi, 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, GPRS/EDGE, GPS, FM radio, and Micro-USB with *OTG (not yet confirmed).
Phantom 5 -> Dual-SIM, Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi, 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, GPRS/EDGE, GPS, FM radio, and Micro-USB with OTG.

Note: Nothing changes here. Both has dual SIM functionality and support 4G LTE which is good.

Battery:

Zero 3 X552 -> 3,030mAh non-removable battery, fast charging
Phantom 5 -> 3,000mAh non-removable battery

Note: We do not consider the 30mAh difference as something noteworthy. Considering the display, chipset and other hardwares of both device, Phantom 5 is sure of delivering a better battery life than Zero 3 X552. This doesn't mean Zero 3 won't last for a day and half in normal use, but not for two. The fast charging comes pretty handy in tight situation and that's a big PLUS and payback for its slightly above-average battery life.

Operating System:

Zero 3 X552 -> Android 5.1 Lollipop
Phantom 5 -> Android 5.1 Lollipop

Note:Nothing changes here. Android 6.0 Marshmallow is still new so we'll wait.

Tecno Phantom 5 Secret Advantage

Tecno Phantom 5 little secret weapon here is fingerprint sensor, which is located at the rear. This provides an additional security and also help erase the use of passcode in locking and unlocking the device. Infinix Zero 3 X552 lacks this feature.

Both smartphones are interesting we won't deny, and each has its own attitude when it comes to giving out the best. The Zero 3 X552 possess a hard-core mobile engine that is ready to handle, capture anything that comes it way. On other hand, the Phantom 5 offers the best in mid-class, it tops that class. Pricing has a major role to play though. Infinix hasn't reveal the pricing of Zero 3 yet, it is what will determine how far it will go.

Thanks Samson Mamus for the tip about storage.
