Sony has officially announced second generation of its smart band named SmartBand 2. The firm took the wrap off the new gadget in an announcement made today via blog post. The device will start shipping globally from September in White, Black, Pink and Indigo colors with a price tag of €119 ($131).

The SmartBand 2 comes with a more enhanced heart rate sensor combined with accelerometer to monitor pulse and track various activities such as sleep, steps, stress level. walk and other workouts. Track records can be view and monitor in real-time on a provided tiny screen which shows details of each tracking event, providing full insights of fitness and stress level via pre-loaded lifelog app.

An accompanied Android and iOS app let users monitor activities from their smartphone with support of phones running Android 4.4+ and iOS 8.2+ via Bluetooth connection or NFC. Besides tracking, it can also be use to read text messages, view missed calls and received calls, read emails and tweets. Users can customize how they want to be notify by enabling/disabling vibration or choosing a specific light color for each notification which reflects on provided RGB LEDs.

Sony SmartBand 2 wrist band can be use to pause, play and skip tracks on connected smartphone. It is waterproof certify with IP68 rating, meaning you can swim and bathe with it. A 58mAh battery onboard can last up to two days and charge within an hour, according to the firm.
