Oppo Neo 5 2015 Edition

Oppo has added two new smartphones to its Neo portfolio in China, the Neo 5 2015 Edition and Neo 5s. The phones was announced on Monday but the firm is yet to reveal their pricing and availability.

The Oppo Neo 5 (2015) is here to replace 2014 edition that was launched in August last year. The Neo 5s was previously listed on the firm webpage in May.

What's the difference between Oppo Neo 5 2014 Edition and Neo 5 2015? Nothing much changes on the inside, the major difference is the first packs a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor while the later is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT658 processor. Also, the 2015 Edition of Neo 5 includes an 8GB of built-in storage while the older version comes with a 4GB storage, though both are expandable up to 32GB via MicroSD card. The rear camera has been upgraded from 5-megapixel to 8-megapixel as well.

Other specifications are 4.5-inch IPS display with 480×854 pixels resolution, 1GB RAM, 2-megapixel front camera, and 2000mAh battery. The smartphone support dual-SIM with 3G and runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box.

On the other hand, the Neo 5s also runs Android 4.4 KitKat and comes with a 4.5-inch FWVGA (480×854 pixels) IPS display. It is powered a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of built-in storage that is expandable via MicroSD card (up to 32GB). Unlike Neo 5, the Neo 5s support 4G LTE and there is dual-SIM functionality onboard too.

The smartphone houses an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and harbours a 2-megapixel camera at the front. Connectivity options included are Wifi, Bluetooth, 3G, 2G, GPS, and Micro-USB. It is backed by a 2000mAh battery.
