Gionee has unleashed a new beastly phablet under its Elife E series which has been rumoured for a long time, the Elife E8. The device is priced at CN¥ 3999 (Roughly $645, #128,500) and will hit China first in second week of July.

The Elife E8 is wrapped in a premium aluminium. It features a 6-inch AMOLED display flaunting a 2K resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood, the phablet is driven by a 64-bit 2.0GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6795 (Helio X10) processor, same processor that powers the recently launched HTC One ME. It includes a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage with external storage support (up to 128GB via MicroSD card).

The most notable feature of the device is its camera, the Elife E8 sports a 23.7-megapixel rear sensor that can capture up to 120MP images and records 4K videos, supported by dual-toned LED flash. It also houses an 8-megapixel camera with wide-angle lens at the front for taking selfie. A fingerprint sensor is embedded at the rear for smart security and authentication as well.

In the software aspect, the Elife E8 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box topped with Amigo UI 3.0. Connectivity options included are 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 3G (HSPA+), 2G, GPS/A-GPS, NFC, and USB with OTG. It is backed by a 3520mAh battery.

A dedicated NXP Smart PA audio chip onboard renders high quality audio which is further enhanced by dual stereo speakers at the back with DTS support. The Gionee Elife E8 will be available globally in coming months.
