The Chinese phone maker Lava has added a new smartphone to its "Iris" series, the Iris X5. The phone sports a selfie-focus front camera which is the highlight of the device. The Iris X5 is priced at Rs 8,799 (approx $146).

The new Lava smartphone features a 5-inch IPS display with a HD resolution of 720*1280 pixels, it offers dual SIM functionality and runs Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core, slammed with 1GB of RAM.

The Iris X5 sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with Omni BSI sensor and LED flash, while there is 5-megapixel autofocus front camera for best selfie shot. It comes with an 8GB built-in storage which is expandable up to 32GB via MicroSD. Connectivity options included are Wifi, Bluetooth, 3G, GPS, Micro-USB, and FM radio. It is backed by an 2100mAh battery.

Earlier this month, Lava launched the dual SIM enabled Iris Pro 30+ in India at a price tag of Rs 11,990 (approx $197). The smartphone runs the dated Android 4.2 Jelly bean and features a 4.7-inch display, 1.5GHz quad-core processor. 1GB RAM, 16MP rear camera, and 5MP front camera.
