Earlier last month, Blackberry revealed their plan to launch the Blackberry Messenger for Windows Phone in July. The BBM app for Windows phone is now available in beta version, the sad news is you can only download the app via an invitation by Windows Phone Store.

In Mid-June, blackberry launch an updated version of their BBM for Android and IOS, which is version 2.2. But the beta version of BBM available for Windows Phone is 1.0.0.1 which proves that this is just the starting point, we believe the app will be fully available before the end of August.

According to NDTV, the app is only 11MB in size and is compatible with Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices only. So, if you are running an older version of Windows Phone you are not entitle to use it. We believe their might be a chance for older Windows Phone version though, considering the fact that Blackberry made their BBM app available for older Android version earlier this year.

Blackberry Messenger for Windows Phone is only limited to Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 users for now, and can only be downloaded through an invitation by Windows Phone Store.
