Update

For those who are using Sony latest smartphones, we mean the Xperia X and Xperia E series, we are here to provide you the methods on how to root your device as Easyroot won't work for you.

By rooting latest Sony Xperia phones, we mean the ones released within Q3 2016 till now. These are becoming more difficult to root especially now that Sony has started locking their phone bootloader. For the new Xperia X, X Compact, X Performance, Xperia E4 and others, you "may" first need to unlock their bootloader before having the chance to gain root access, just like HTC phones.

Sony however do provide an official way for its smartphones to be unlock which is quite easy, by going to its developer page you can get your phone unlocked in no time. Before applying the root procedures listed below, we suggest you unlock your Xperia bootloarder if it is one of the latest we are talking about by going here.

Now, there are three root apps we have been able to gather so far that works for these devices.

1.) Towelroot (Download)
2.) Kingoroot (Download)
3.) Kingroot (Download)

The 2 and 3 both have mobile as well as PC versions while towelroot comes in PC version only. From what we know so far, Kingoroot mobile version can easily root Sony Xperia E4 without PC if it has been unlocked. Kingroot and Towelroot however works randomly and you may need to test it out yourself.

In summary, here are what you need to do if you'll be using any of the rooting apps.

1.) Make sure you enable "USB Debugging" under phone settings.

2.) Make sure you have Sony USB driver installed on your PC. You can do this by installing Xperia Companion.

3.) If you are using Kingroot or Kingoroot mobile and PC applications, make sure you enable data (internet) connection.

4.) Before you use any of the apps, we strongly recommend you unlock your bootloader if it is locked.

Do let us know the one which works for your device.
