Amazon has confirmed it will be holding an event on 18 June in Seattle, which many believe will be the announcement of its rumoured smartphone. The event was announced through a special page on the company's website alongside an image of what looks like the back of a phone and a teaser video.

The page said "Join Amazon's founder Jeff Bezos for our launch event" and invited journalists, developers and customers to Amazon's home town. The video that was posted has a number of people within it moving their heads while looking at the device, which is thought to be down to the device featuring several front-facing cameras that track head movements. By tracking your head movements, the device is then thought to be able to make images on the screen appear to pop out in 3D.

Also in the video, there appears to be a reflection of the display in one of the people's glasses, along with a glimpse of the top of the alleged handset at the bottom of the shot, around two thirds of the way through. In other rumours, the Amazon smartphone is expected to run on a customised version of Android, features a 13-megapixel rear camera, 12-megapixel front facing camera and a 4.7-inch 720p HD display with 3D support.
